Import from YNAB 4

Import your budget from YNAB 4 (the classic desktop version). This creates a new journal.

Locate your YNAB 4 data

YNAB 4 stores budgets as .ynab4 folders in your Dropbox or local file system. Typical locations:

• macOS/Linux: ~/Dropbox/YNAB/
• Windows: C:\Users\<you>\Dropbox\YNAB\

Import into Surebeans

1. Click ☰ → Import → From YNAB 4.
2. Select the .ynab4 budget folder (or file).
3. Desktop: Choose a destination folder. Browser: Surebeans picks a name automatically.
4. Surebeans creates a new journal with your data.

What gets imported

• Accounts and account types
• Category groups and categories → budget envelopes
• Records with payee, date, amount, category, memo
• Budget allocations

After import

Review Plan to verify your envelopes. Check Records to confirm history.
